All kinds of craziness broke out earlier this week when Constance Wu went on social media to express her displeasure over her television show Fresh Off The Boat getting renewed. Most actors would be relieved to hear their show having one more season, but Wu wanted to do movies. “So upset right now that I’m literally crying” and “Dislike,” she wrote on social media when she heard her television show was renewed. This outburst led to a severe backlash with some calling Constance Wu “disrespectful” and a “diva.”
Consequently, Wu backtracked and issued a weak apology that was met with more backlash. However, this didn’t stop people from issuing statements on how “rude” or diva-like Constance Wu was on set.
Twitter user Yashar Ali wrote in a now-deleted tweet, “Constance Wu’s conduct today comes as no surprise to anyone who has worked with her in recent years. She has a reputation for being rude, petty, mean-spirited, and ungrateful.”
A lot of people liked the comment and even Wu’s Crazy Rich Asians co-star, Gemma Chan, liked the tweet.
Gemma Chan unliked the tweet and clarified that she didn’t mean to “like” the tweet. “Just to clarify – it was an accidental ‘like’. Anyone looking for drama or beef, sorry to disappoint,” she tweeted.
So it looked like everything was cleared up. However, Page Six is reporting that Constance Wu is a giant Diva. They claimed a source told them that Constance Wu is “the most hated person” on Fresh Off The Boat and that “she is rude to everybody, but most of all the crew.”
Now, you got to take these sources and rumors with a grain of salt. It’s possible that Constance Wu is a diva, but it’s also possible that the people that interacted with Wu caught her on a bad day.
An insider who was working on Constance Wu’s new movie “Hustlers” told Page Six that Wu was a bigger diva than her co-stars J.Lo and Cardi B. Damn.
“Wu is a pain in the f***ing ass. She just won’t agree to do anything,” the source said. “She refuses to do interviews, she won’t have visitors on her sets. It’s like a cliche. She is very talented – but all signs are pointing to a difficult diva.”
Another source said, “She’s a total piece of work. She thinks it’s OK to treat people badly and say out loud whatever comes to her. She’s the new Katherine Heigl, and if she’s not careful, her movie career will go in the same direction – downhill.”
One source, who was on the set of “Crazy Rich Asians,” the movie that helped catapult her movie career, said that Wu was not socializing with her co-stars. She had a “separate van from the cast” to take her to talk to reporters. “She was icy cold, leaving it to Henry Golding to charm everyone,” the source said.
As a result of her attitude, her reps are “begging” her to be more “gracious” and show some “humility” before she destroys her career.
Now, once again take these rumors with a grain of salt. But I do love rumors and these rumors are the most interesting thing about Constance Wu. So please, please spill some more tea.
