An 18-year-old beauty vlogger in Thailand is becoming an internet sensation after doing live broadcasts of herself putting on makeup. Bunthida Chinnawong, aka Fai, posts video on her Facebook page, which now has over 175,000 fans, applying makeup with no arms. The armless Thai beauty vlogger is inspiring many to overcome their self-doubts. Usually in a crop top to show off her shoulders, Fai welcomes her fans with enthusiasm to watch her apply a sponsor’s makeup with her feet. With music blaring in the background she matches the energy of the beat as she does her makeup and talks to her fans for about an hour.

It’s a miracle that Fai is still living. She was born with no arms, a shortened right leg, a curved spine, and only one lung. The doctors didn’t see Fai living past nine months, Fai’s mother, Pin Saleepote told ABC News, “The doctor told me to be prepared, that she would not live longer than nine months.” But Fai kept beating the odds. “After nine months, he said it might be one year, then it was nine years, ten years,” Pin said.

Pin would lie to her daughter when she was younger about her situation. She didn’t have the heart to tell her daughter why she had no arms so she told Fai that they would eventually grow. But that lie could only last for so long. “But I told her the truth when she was older, I told her ‘You don’t have arms, it’s okay my child, you can be great, you can show your ability,'” Pin said. And that’s what Fai did.

Fai’s passion for cosmetics started when she was young. She would regularly steal them from her older sister and mother. Fai attended a school for disabled kids but makeup was not allowed so she convinced her mother to send her to a “normal” school. She quickly became popular with her outgoing personality and gained many friends. “She was fun to be with, she would make people smile and laugh,” Fai’s friend, Jane said. “When friends felt like giving up and needed support to cheer them up, they would consult with Fai to get her advice and she would encourage them to fight on, she told them to see her as example of how to keep fighting.”

Fai would see her friends apply makeup but she was always ashamed to because of her condition. But she kept practicing at home using her feet. “It came naturally, but also took practice,” Fai said. And now she’s becoming a star as she uses her feet to do her makeup.

Once the lights come on and she starts recording, Fai comes to life. With a lively exposition and an infectious laugh, Fai shows off her new clothes then goes onto do her makeup. She puts on contact lenses, fake eyelashes, and carefully applies makeup. “The most difficult thing is to pick up small things, like the eyelashes…” Fai said. She wants to fight the normal standard of beauty in Thailand. “Many people think white skin is beautiful, smooth skin is beautiful or having a nose pointing to Mars is beautiful,” Fai said

But she’s a super confident woman who sees her life as a blessing. She wants to help people who are struggling with depression. “It made me think, ‘Their lives are better than mine … but they chose to end their lives by killing themselves,” Fai said talking about people who have committed suicide. “I want to give inspiration to those people.

She has big goals which include hosting a television show and walking down the runway. “I can model in a wheelchair, it’s fine right?” But first, she wants to get better with her makeup skills and travel. “My dream is to develop my make-up skills, graduate from university and travel to Australia and France,” Fai said.

As for advice for girls who are struggling with self-esteem issues, she said, “I think every woman has their own beauty, they just need to be confident — show a confident face and beauty will come.”
