Filipina American Hannahlei Cabanilla Wins ‘So You Think You Can Dance’ Competition

Filipina American Hannahlei Cabanilla is the grand winner of the 15th season of ‘So You Think You Can Dance.’ The teenager who is only 18 years old wowed the crowds with her amazing dance routines. After she was crowned champion she said, “This is without a doubt, the best experience of my life. I am beyond thankful for every moment I’ve had on the show, and I know that it is something I will never forget. I’m happy to say that this experience is just the beginning.”

Hannahlei Cabanilla was born and raised in Orange County. She started dancing when she was two at the Orange County Performing Arts Academy reports The Mercury News. Hannahlei beat out Jensen Arnold and Genessy Castillo in the finals to become champion. She wins $250,000, a role in the live adaptation of “Rent”, and gets the cover of Dance Spirit Magazine. With the money, she plans to take her parents on a Greek vacation. “Take my parents on a vacation because they’ve supported my dance career since I was two years old and I owe everything to them…,” she told the Hollywood Junket.

Filipinas are tearing it up in the entertainment industry. First Kelsey Merritt and now Hannahlei. Congratulations Hannahlei and good luck on your tour.
