Ming-Na Wen voiced Mulan, a woman who goes undercover as a man to fight in the Imperial Army. Disney released a statement summarizing the story of Mulan.
“The eldest daughter of an honored warrior, Hua Mulan is spirited, determined and quick on her feet. When the Emperor issues a decree that one man per family must serve in the Imperial Army, she steps in to take the place of her ailing father as Hua Jun, becoming one of China’s greatest warriors ever.”
It will be directed by Niki Caro from a script by Rich Jaffa and Amanda Silver. With a reported budget of 300 million dollars, it will be one of the most expensive movies made and the most expensive movie directed by a woman.
Mulan is set to release worldwide in theaters in March 2020.
