This is the stuff of nightmares. When homeowner Rajesh Malhotra, of Stockton, CA ordered a cookies-and-cream milkshake for his son, he didn’t expect to get that creamy milkshake tainted. But boy was he wrong for trusting DoorDash to deliver the milkshake unsullied. And it was his 14-year-old son, Rishab Malhotra, who had to suffer the consequences of this breach of trust.
All Rajesh Malhotra wanted was a creamy milkshake from Coldstones for his son. However, he did not want to leave his home. So he used DoorDash to have someone deliver the milkshake to his home. But when the DoorDash driver delivered the drink, he appeared to have taken a sip of the milkshake. A surveillance camera captured the driver contaminating the milkshake with his lips. Yuck!
The worst part of all this is that they didn’t find out until the next day. Malhotra’s son drank that drink the night before thinking it was virginal, but it was far from it. It was only when the father was looking over the surveillance video the following morning, he saw the DoorDash driver wrap his lips around the straw.
“I looked at it and saw the driver who delivered the food was sipping out of my son’s Coldstone,” Malhotra told Fox 40. “I was like, ‘Woah, that’s crazy. How could someone jeopardize the product like that, especially food?”
The father had to deliver the awful news to his son, Rishab. “Then my dad told me to check out the video from last night and once I checked it out I brushed five, six times. I felt really disgusted,” Rishab said.
Now the family says, the trust between customer and consumer has been broken. “We have trust between the company and drivers,” Rajesh Malhotra told Fox 40. “Once that trust is broken, we can’t go back.”
Rajesh is looking for an apology and their word this won’t happen again to them or any other customers. He reached out to DoorDash two weeks ago when this happened, but haven’t received a word from them.
The NY Post reached out to DoorDash and their spokesperson said, “We sincerely regret that this incident fell short of the experience we strive to give our customers every day. We reached out to this customer immediately after being notified of this event three weeks ago. We have since taken appropriate actions, including deactivating the Dasher from our platform for failing to follow and maintain our standards of food safety.”
What was this guy thinking? Everyone has a security camera these days. This seems so brazen like he knew the camera was there and he said F it. If you’re going to take a sip just do it in the car.
