The 2019 ceremony will take place on Friday, August 23 in hall D23 of the Anaheim Convention Center. It will be hosted by Disney CEO Bob Iger.
“The Disney Legends Award is the highest honor we can bestow; it’s a recognition of talent, a celebration of achievement, and an expression of profound gratitude to the remarkable men and women who have made an indelible mark on our company and our creative legacy.” Bob Iger said. “This year’s honorees have earned a place in our hearts and our history for their significant contributions in film, television, and our theme parks around the world.”
Ming-Na Wen is best known for her role as Suyuan Woo’s daughter, June, in “The Joy Luck Club.” The 55-year-old actress can currently be seen on Disney’s television shows, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D as Agent Melinda May and Fresh Off The Boat. But her biggest role for Disney was back in 1998 when she voiced the title character in the animated movie Mulan.
Ming-Na Wen expressed her joy about becoming a Disney Legend. On Instagram, she wrote that she “cried” after she received a letter from Bob Iger thanking her for contributions. “I cried because I was so moved. Never in my wildest dreams would I expect this to happen to me. I am just always grateful for the work. That is reward enough. I love acting. I love @Disney. So I have worked for Disney for so many years on so many projects is wonderful enough. This honor just blows me away. I am overwhelmed, humbled, grateful, and yeah, super happy!”
